Funding & Rebate Options
Medicare
Some children and adults may be eligible to receive rebates for private speech pathology sessions through Medicare.
The Chronic Disease Management (CDM) program is one of the Medicare programs which provides access for eligible clients. They can receive up to five partially funded rebates for speech pathology services, per calendar year.
People of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent may also be eligible for a further five follow-up services through this CDM plan.
To find out if your child might be eligible for the plan, contact your General Practitioner (GP). Your GP will be required to make a referral for your child through this program.
Private Health Insurance
Many private health funds offer cover for private speech pathology, depending on your level of cover and which health fund you are with.
You will need to contact your specific health fund provider to find out whether you can claim for speech therapy services.
